How do i reboot my computer?

i want to delete everything on my computer.. its a gateway and i have windows vista. i don't have any reboot c.d's or anything butt i need like a code to type in to reboot or erase memory or something anything.. except using c.d's

restart your computer as soon as the sceen comes up type f8 over and over and over again till the screen shows safe mode and reboot

From what you're saying, it sounds like you're trying to reformat your computer rather than "rebooting" - which is just a synonym for "restarting" the computer. There is no "code" or command to do this as it requires several steps. Reformatting deletes everything on your current hard drive. You can do this part without a cd, but in order for the computer to regain day to day functionality, you will need to install an operating system - which usually are contained on a cd. I suggest that you take it to a pc shop if you really want this done. Or I can help you if you live in the Baltimore/Washington area.

u cant format any hard drive on which u hav the current OS,coz the OS is using the system files residing in tht drive,u gotta format it externally,I suppose u hav a floppy

maybe then u can make a startup disk or sumthing and format the disks

u can use the 'format' command to do so

or u can do onething, just unplug the hard drive and dump it sumwhere

tht shud help

good luck :)
