I want a better power supply for my computer. is there such thing as an external one?

my computer is a Gateway GM5632e. it comes with 400-watt power, and i need 425W to run this new graphics card i want. and i saw the prices of the power supplies, and they were expensive, is there a way i can just add more power to my computer?

and external power supply would be nice too

I have never heard of an external solution and as far as adding more, that pretty much means replacing the one you have for a larger one. If you are buying a larger one, I would not just settle for a 425W because you may want to upgrade again later. Go with at least a 500W or a 600W. Prices aren't that much different.

There is no way to add to the existing power supply (safely). Just make sure to buy atleast a 500W supply for future upgrades. If you pay the extra money and get a power save certified PSU it will pay itself off in a couple of months of use.

Don't say where you are but visit www.cclonline.com and they can provide a wide range of power suppliers from 14.08 for a 500 watt supply.

i dont think there is an external power source but it is not hard to install one just make sure you are grounded
