The other answer is false, it installs all of the updates that have come out since service pack 2. You will not lose anything when you install service pack 3.

I have just installed server pack 3 and I still have all my files from last month so my answer will have to be no .
If you've been running Windows Update, you're already way past SP3. If not, you should have been - turn it on.
only install sp3 if you have xp home installed, it makes it the same as pro
