DOES WI-FI WORK ON AIRPLANES?

im going to america its like 11 hr flight do they have WI-FI for my laptop

I doubt it, you'll probably have to do something else, besides internet on your LapTop. Sorry.

WiFi is a short range signal (HotSpot or Wireless Access), you must be within range of Someones Router or Network. In rare cases someone might use a Cantenna to shoot out a HotZone.

The staff on the AirPlane may or may not allow you to use Wireless Devices, whether it be (Service Providers or WiFi). But, at the Airport you certainly could. Even if your allowed, I doubt that there would be WiFi Access in the Plane, as for Service Providers, the answer would be Yes, that's again only if your allowed to. Although being above clouds you probably would have a harder time getting service.

I've never been on a plane, but its just a thought.

Nope. No airplanes currently have wi-fi service though some airlines are thinking about offering it. It's also not allowed to turn on your computer's wi-fi while the plane is in flight (although if you did do it, your computer would not pick up anything except possible other computer users who also shouldn't be using their wi-fi).

WiFI has to be turned off whilst in flight, because it interferes with the Instruments.

there is no internet coverage on a aeroplane. Wifi is a short range signal. there is no Wifi on or in a plane.

If you have a certain provider yes. But you are not allowed to use anything that sends or receives a signal so it doesn't matter anyways.

No. Airlines do not provide Internet service. You'll have to wait until you're in the airport. And they charge you for it!

Your wifi should be turned off on a plane!!!

the plane can crash if people turn on wifi you can goto prison if caught!!!

unless you have permission!!!

doubtful

  1. Hey, do you know anyone who HAS BEEN ON A PLANE and knows for sure about the wifi thing? It's no help from someone who hasn't had that experience.

  3. I too was wondering this same question because I am going on a 5 hour plane trip and after some reaserch I foind out that
Wi-Fi will not work on a plane because of the altitude levels. Also it may mess with the instruments and gears up front. So it is better that you do not try. Although you can use your computer just not the internet. Sorry.
P.S. I have been on a plane before
