What is IP address......?

Is it the password to your wireless internet or something else??...



Think of an IP address as your computer's civic address on the Internet. An IP address can be broken up into a "network address" and a "host address", or to follow the analogy, your computer's "street" and "street number". When you send information on the Internet, your computer addresses it to the IP address of the destination computer, and includes your source IP address for a sort of "return to sender" mechanic. It's very, very much like your local postal service for normal mail.




IP address is a way to correctly identify certain PC's over the internet network. Every PC has to have a unique IP address. It is done in Binary form, then transmitted into Decimal.




An IP address is the numerical network address all computers need to talk to each other, a bit like a phone number/extension for telephones.
